HASAN ALBASAN, DVM, MS, PhD

 

             

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Albasan is the reviewer of JAVMA, AJVR, and Urological Research since 2009, and the contributor of chapters in veterinary books of Small Animal Clinical Nutrition, Nephrology and Urology of Small Animals, Blackwell’s Five-Minute Veterinary Consult: Canine and Feline th Ed., Consultations in Feline Internal Medicine 6th Ed., and Veterinary Current Therapy 17thEd. Dr Albasan joined as a faculty member to Internal Medicine Department in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ankara University in September 2012.

Dr Albasan graduated from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ankara University and then enrolled a PhD program in Clinical Sciences Department in the same school.Dr Albasan was awarded with a Turkish Government Scholarship for the graduate study in the USA. After completing his MSc & PhD degrees in the Veterinary Clinical Sciences Department of College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota, Dr Albasan continued working with his mentors of Drs Osborne & Lulich as a visiting scholar and then as a faculty member at the University of Minnesota.

 

Along with Drs Osborne & Lulich at the Minnesota Urolith Center, Dr  Albasan published a number of his studies in JAVMA, Vet Clinic North Am, etc. Existence of in vitro crystals in the urinalysis was determined  first time and reported in the JAVMA of 2003 by Dr Albasan and his colleagues. College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota was one of a few veterinary schools that laser lithotripsy procedure was developed for the urolith removal. Dr Lulich and Dr  Albasan have been using laser lithotripsy procedure since 2005. They published their lithotripsy study which has the largest case numbers   so far in JAVMA of 2009.

Dr. Gül Sancak graduated from University of Ankara, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. She then went on to complete a specialist degree in the department of surgery at University of Ankara, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on the “Evaluation of urolithiasis in dogs and cats”. Meanwhile she spent 4 years in private practice. In 2004 she started her PhD and joined the department of surgery at University of Ankara, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine as a research fellow. She obtained her PhD in 2009 on ‘Comparison of the healing effects of corneoconjunctival transplantation and limbal stem cell transplantation on alkaline burned corneas of rabbits’. Dr. Gul Sancak then awarded for the Switzerland government scholarship (2011) culminating in a research project at the Center for Applied Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine (CABMM) on the “Isolation and differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in different species and evaluation of the mesenchymal stem cells in a custom made scaffold model” under supervision of Professor Brigitte von Rechenberg. 

 

Dr Sancak currently continues to work on several projects supported by both TUBİTAK and Ankara University Scientific Research Projects funds. Her work mainly focuses on stem cell applications in corneal damage, stem cell applications in kidney diseases and adipose and bone marrow derived stem cells efficacy in clinical practice.

 

He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1991. He completed his PhD at department of surgery at the same school in 1998. He worked as associated professor between 2004 and 2008. He was promoted to full professor in 2008. Dr. Besalti started a non-traditional residency programme of neurology in 2008. His interests are; general surgery, neurology and neurosurgery.

Osman Safa TERZİ, DVM

He graduated from University of Kirikkale, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. He has been working as a research assistant at Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Ankara University since 2012. He has interest on hematology. 

Pınar CAN, DVM

 

 

She graduated from University of Ankara, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2009. She began her PhD programme at the same university in the Department of Surgery in 2010. She took the title of Research Asisstant in 2013. Her PhD thesis is on spinal cord injury and stem cell therapy. Her scientific interests are Veterinary General Surgery, Veterinary Neurology&Neurosurgery and Physical Therapy. She is still working on her dissertation.

Hale YETKİN, DVM

 

She graduated from University of Uludag, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She has been working as a product manager for Mopsan Veterinary Product Company since 2008. She has interest on pet nutrition.
